Vice President, Product Management—Strategic Sourcing

Mediagrif’s Strategic Sourcing division, made up of three major lines of business, being MERX, ASC and BidNet, is a North American leader in the development of electronic tendering technology for both public and private sectors. Our clients are complex, discerning and professional organizations that are looking to move their entire tendering and procurement system online, while still maintaining full control and security over their procurement processes. Our core solution automates the entire strategic sourcing process from supplier management to solicitation creation to bid distribution, response management, bid evaluation, vendor performance and contract lifecycle management.

The Vice President, Product Management—Strategic Sourcing will lead our Product teams and orchestrate all the stages of Mediagrif’s strategic sourcing lines of business (LOB) product portfolio and lifecycles. A charismatic leader, he/she will coach, inspire and engage each Product team member, building a unified and expert team which will be at the forefront of Mediagrif’s strategic sourcing success. His/her strategic mindset and extensive product management experience will be instrumental in identifying key markets and growth opportunities with existing customers and potential clients. The Vice President, Product Management—Strategic Sourcing, in close collaboration with sales, marketing and development leadership, will develop product plans and strategies to increase market penetration, thus elevating Mediagrif’s reputation as THE industry’s strategic sourcing supplier of choice.

Main responsibilities:

  • Product Vision and Strategy
    • Articulate a clear product portfolio vision and strategy that is innovative, differentiated and which delivers unique value based on a deep understanding of customer needs;
    • Work with the different LOB leaders pertaining to the product vision and future, defining the global business plan in the competitive landscape, including pricing strategy;
    • Strategically position products within all markets and for all buyer types, defining, identifying and prioritizing features and/or product line synergies that generate the most business value for the organization;
    • Be the guardian of the product vision, ensuring the teams and roadmaps are constantly aligned with targeted sales objectives;
    • Create and oversee various market and product analyses, business and strategic plans, performance metrics and reports.
  • Market Research and Customer Relations
    • Seek new market opportunities by leveraging the company’s distinctive competencies;
    • Identify and validate market needs/voids/problems for both existing and future customers;
    • Aware of current/emerging technical possibilities, envisioning future products not yet in the customers’ scope but which would answer business problems they are experiencing;
    • Develop product culture through thought leadership, representing Mediagrif externally and building relationships with current and potential clients;
    • Understand our current and potential clients’ needs and requirements, translating gained insight into innovation;
    • Implement existing products user feedback and data-tracking process, incorporating continuous improvement into future product versions;
    • Manage partnerships during joint product propositions, strengthening the market strategy (including M&A);
    • Liaise with research and advisory third parties for activities such as: user feedback, surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Team Management and Internal Cross-functional Relations
    • Cultivate and champion a collaborative (user first and data insights driven) product culture;
    • Encompass and share product visions and strategies through internal and external communication channels, processes and roadmaps during every stage of product development;
    • Provide cross-functional leadership, notably between engineering, S&M, and support teams but also across LOBs at a corporate level;
    • Ensure product knowledge is transferred to the sales and marketing teams in order to ensure successful product roll out;
    • Manage the product team, including hiring, coaching, planning, monitoring, job appraisal and performance management;
    • Foster continuous learning/quick study mindset within the product team by encouraging further professional and technical education, workshops, seminars, etc.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years vetted experience in product management;
  • Solid knowledge of the Tech industry;
  • Bilingual—English and French, an important asset;
  • Business travel to the United States (20%).
