BidNet® links businesses to new economic incentive projects Business intelligence leader sees booming interest in government spending plan

(Albany, NY, Feb 5, 2009): BidNet®, an Albany, NY-based leader in government business intelligence, is reporting unprecedented interest from businesses across the nation seeking to be part of the proposed national economic stimulus plan.

With a wide range of government spending being planned in coming months, and a price tag approaching $1 trillion, many companies are looking to this plan as a key to sustaining and growing their businesses. Established more than 25 years ago to track government bids and match them to qualified companies, BidNet recognizes the need to help these businesses to be ready for the opportunities.

"Since our founding, we have connected businesses with government opportunities," said Dan Ansell, company vice president. "The current state of the economy has shown many companies that government business can be a key component to their survival and growth. Now, the economic stimulus plan is driving a significant increase in businesses seeking more information about what it can mean for them."

Ansell added "We're helping these businesses, large and small, to get "tuned in" to the information that they need, particularly in tracking actual opportunities, and helping position them to be ready for the additional government investments. We're fortunate to be in a position to contribute to the solution for the current crisis. Our clients will be well-positioned to be part of the economic turnaround effort."

President Barack Obama has targeted the American Recovery & Reinvestment Plan as a key initiative of his administration, and is working with Congressional leaders to move the plan forward quickly. It will likely include more than $500 billion in additional government spending programs, beginning in the first half of 2009. Designed to spur an economic turnaround, the program will create and save jobs, as well as help rebuild infrastructure. Initial proposals include spending in a number of specific areas, including highways and bridges, mass transit, schools, transportation, technology, clean energy, and more.

BidNet will be posting on its customer website the latest information on plans, updates, and announcements from government sources related specifically to the stimulus package. "We're providing a resource center with information for our clients, including state-specific data, to help businesses keep track of what stimulus projects are under consideration," said Ansell. "As they become actual bids and opportunities, we'll have the full information for our clients to act upon, as we do for routine government opportunities at all levels."

With the latest in web technology, a dedicated research team, as well as long-standing relationships with government buyers across the nation, BidNet can show its clients current bids, historical data and trends, awards, and even advance information on opportunities not yet out for bid. "Government spending has always been an enormous segment of the economy, and this new stimulus plan will offer even more opportunity for businesses which are positioned to be part of the economic turnaround," concluded Ansell.
